The gene PLEKHA5 (pleckstrin homology domain containing A5) is mapped to human chromosome 12p12. It is from the PLEKHA family. The protein has PH (pleckstrin homology) and Trp-Trp WW putative domains. The gene encodes a large (L-PLEKHA5) as well as a short (S-PLEKHA5) variant. The L-PLEKHA5 is mainly expressed in the brain, however, S-PLEKHA5 is widely expressed. The protein is present at the plasma membrane and associates with microtubules.

PLEKHA5 (pleckstrin homology domain containing A5) is associated with brain development. It is upregulated in melanoma. It might be one of the mediators of melanoma brain metastasis. It might also be important for cell migration.
