General description

Interleukin 8 (IL-8) is an 8 kD, 72 amino acid residue containing cytokine that belongs to C-X-C chemokine family<

Specificity

The antibody will neutralize the biological activity of recombinant and natural human IL-8, but not recombinant human GROα.

Immunogen

recombinant human IL-8 (CXCL8).

Application

Anti-Interleukin-8 antibody can be used in immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry.
Anti-Interleukin-8 antibody can be used for the following :
  • For neutralizing the biological activity of recombinant human IL-8 and natural human IL-8.
  • Immunoblotting.
  • ELISA.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin 8 (IL-8) stimulates neutrophils to produce lysosomal enzymes along with myeloperoxidase, α-mannosidase and β-glucuronidase< IL-8 regulates the metastasis and angiogenesis processes during cancer development. IL-8 is responsible for epithelial–mesenchymal transition which plays an important role in providing cancer cells the mobility to invade other neighbouring cells, thereby contributing to metastasis.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing carbohydrates.
