1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphosphoethanolamine (DOPE) is a widely used lipid in the construction of lipid structures such as micelles, liposomes, lipid bilayers and lipid-based gene transfection vectors. N-(NBD-aminocaproyl)-1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphosphoethanolamine sodium salt may be used as a fluorescent phospholipid membrane and lipoplex probe.
