We have not determined the solution stability of this product. As a guideline, please note the stability of product no. T5411, Testosterone solution 1.0 mg/mL, which is stable for 3 years at 2-8 C.
The product is soluble in absolute ethanol (0.5 mg/ml), It is also soluble in vegetable oils, soluble in dioxan and slightly soluble in methyl oleate.
A solution of testosterone cannot be sterile filtered, since the compound will stick to the filter paper, according to Sigma cell culture scientists' experience.
This product has not been tested for cell culture use. We offered Testosterone for cell culture, now discontinued, and for it our 1998 Sigma Cell Culture advised to dissolve 1 mg in 2.0 mL absolute ethanol, gently swirl to dissolve, then add 48 mL sterile medium to prepare 20 ug/ml stock solution. Working range: 20-300 ng/ml.
