General description

Tributyl phosphate (TBP) is an organophosphorus compound widely used as a solvent in nuclear fuel reprocessing for the extraction of uranium and plutonium from other radionuclides.[1][2]
Tributyl phosphate is an endocrine disrupting compound.[3]

Application

Tributyl phosphate was employed as:
  • solvent in the solvent-detergent method for production of immunoglobulin for inactivation of viruses with lipid envelope on the model of duck hepatitis B virus[4]
  • ligand in the extraction of lanthanide ions from solid and liquid materials by supercritical CO2[5]
  • extractant for metal complexes[6]
