General description

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a synthetic, hydrophilic, biocompatible polymer with widespread use in biomedical and other applications. PEGs are non-toxic, FDA-approved, generally non-immunogenic, and frequently used in many biomedical applications including bioconjugation, drug delivery, surface functionalization, and tissue engineering. In drug delivery, PEGs can be used as linkers for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) or as a surface coating on nanoparticles to improve systemic drug delivery.

Application

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) has been used as a coating agent for the synthesis and in vitro safety assessment of magnetic bacterial cellulose (MBC) pellicles, performed on porcine aortic smooth muscle cells (PAOSMC). PEG provides a compatible surface for cell culture, since uncoated iron oxide NPs are considered cytotoxic to cells.[1] It has also been used as a plasticizer in investigating the effectiveness of polyvinylpyrrolidone microneedles for transdermal delivery of functional collagen using porcine skin, adult human skin analog and human foreskin. Microneedles obtained, were reportedly characterized by various analytical and bio-analytical techniques.[2]
Used in conjunction with carbon black to form a conductive composite.[3] Polymer nanospheres of poly(ethylene glycol) were used for drug delivery.[4]

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. Hi, I wanted to know how did you prepare the PEG 400 into liquid form as it in my concern it might not be 100 % PEG would it be like 90% of PEG powdered form in aqueou solution or so on. I will be thankful if you provide answer of my this query.

    1 answer
    1. The specific manufacturing process for the product is proprietary. PEG400 is a pure liquid form of polyethylene glycol with no other components, and its viscous nature is a characteristic feature of the product.

  2. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  3. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/449/386/product-dating-information-mk.pdf
