Description

General description

Crystal symmetry of Gadolinium (III) nitrate is triclinic. Its a highly water soluble crystalline oxidizing agent. It forms Ga₂O₃ upon heating to temperatures 500^oC.

Application

Used as neutron poison in nuclear reactors, as raw material for Gadolinium compounds, and in the production of Gadolinium oxide (Gd₂O₃) nanoparticles.
