General description

Bromocresol purple (BCP) is an organic dye[1] and a pH indicator.[2] It changes from yellow (pH 5.2) to purple (6.8).[2] BCP reacts with ammonia to yield ammonium salt. Hence, it can be used as an ammonia sensing probe.[1]
