The exact mole ratio of oxygen is not determined on a lot by lot basis. This product is prepared by molten oxide process. The oxygen mole ratio is expected to range from 6.7-9.8. Historical records have ranged from 6.5 - 7, however, this is not a specification. While some superconducting properties should be present in the material as it is produced, many applications may call for an annealing step before use. Naturally, the oxygen content of the material may vary with heat treatments over ca 300°C, due to the ability of the composite to release/absorb oxygen at elevated temperatures.
