General description

CeO2-ZrO2 composites have a good crystal structure, higher specific surface area, lower band-gap energy, and smaller grain size. It forms p-n heterojunction and is widely used in the field of photocatalysis and oxygen storage.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency and is intended for Molecular Solar Thermal Energy Storage Systems (MOST). Click here for more information.

Application

CeO2-ZrO2 can be used as a catalyst for water-splitting reactions and photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants.

Pt/CeO2–ZrO2 can be used as a catalyst in the dry reformation of methane.

It can also be used to prepare optically passive electrodes for solid-state electrochromic devices.

Features and Benefits

  • Non-toxic
  • High photocatalytic activity
  • Good stability
Optically passive electrode for solid state electrochromic devices.

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Could you please confirm the size of the particles in this product? In our laboratory, we have found that this product forms aggregates. You state that the size is <50 nm by BET measurement, ¿how so? BET can't provide that information.

    1 answer
    1. The "<50 nm (BET)" value for this product is an average particle size estimate based on surface area, not a direct measurement of primary particle size. BET cannot directly measure particle size, and aggregation is common in nanopowders. For actual particle size, direct measurement techniques such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), or dynamic light scattering (DLS) are required

  2. We have purchased Cerium(IV)-zirconium(IV) oxide. Thank you for providing the material. We wonder whether the product is blended mixture of ZrO2 and CeO2, or just Composite of Zr-Ce-O4. We also want to know about the molar ratio of Ce to Zr

    1 answer
    1. This cerium zirconium oxide has a 60:40 Ce:Zr composition. It is a composite produced by a chemical combustion process.
