General description

Indium tin oxide films are inherently brittle in nature. To overcome this, ITO is coated with transparent conductive polymers or nanomaterial.[1] Indium tin oxide coated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film is optically transparent and electrically conductive.[2]The ITO coating is protected by a thin, transparent film, that can be easily peeled off.
Thickness of ITO coating is 1300 Å

Application

A radius of curvature of up to 75 mm will not damage the ITO coating.
Micro mechanical properties of ITO-PET were investigated. Electrical resistance of ITO-PET increases in case of degradation. [1] ITO-PET was used as an electrode in the electrochemical measurements in a study of biosensors composed of polymer brushes.[3] ITO microelectrodes were studied as an “electronic tongue” for analyte recognition.[2] The sheet resistance of ITO, after bending to a radius of 25 mm was investigated, for its use for flexible optical devices. [4] Giant unilamellar vesicle (GUVs) were produced on ITO coated glass slides by drying droplets of the FhuA proteoliposomes.[5]

Features and Benefits

The polyester film products comprise sputtered ITO, and exhibit transmittance and resistance characteristics similar to those of the glass substrates.

Questions

1–10 of 15 Questions
  1. Could you please provide the roughness of ITO on PET for the product 639303 ?

    1 answer
    1. The roughness is not a measured parameter. A sputtered coating will mirror the substrate that it is being deposited on and not have much effect on the original film surface roughness value. The PET has a typical roughness value of 1.5 nm (Ra).

      Helpful?

  2. I would like to know the physical properties of ITO-PET that you sell. I need the physical properties of ITO-PET, such as specific heat at constant pressure, thermal conductivity, and density. If you know, could you please let me know?

    1 answer
    1. Unfortunately, this product is not tested for specific heat, thermal conductivity, or density. The only parameters for which the product is tested are the percent transmittance at 550 nm, surface resistance, and the dimensions, are shown on the specification sheet:
      https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/specification-sheets/140/083/639303-BULK_______ALDRICH__.pdf
Note that the thickness of 5 mil (that is, 0.005 inches) is the same 1300 Angstroms, the thickness of the ITO coating reported in the Descriptions section of the product detail page.

  3. I want to know the properties of ITO and PET. Plz tell me the specific heat, thermal conductivity, and density of the ITO and PET that you sell??

    1 answer
    1. The specific heat of ITO is approximately 0.5 J/g·K (or 500 J/kg·K), the thermal conductivity ranges from 10 to 20 W/m·K, depending on the specific composition and processing of the ITO, and the density is about 7.1 g/cm³ (or 7100 kg/m³). For PET, the specific heat is approximately 1.3 J/g·K (or 1300 J/kg·K), the thermal conductivity ranges from 0.15 to 0.25 W/m·K, and the density is about 1.38 g/cm³ (or 1380 kg/m³). These values can vary.

  4. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/418/501/product-dating-information-06-25-mk.pdf

  5. Could you please tell me the carrier concentration of this ITO?

    1 answer
    1. The concentration of this product is considered proprietary.

      Helpful?

  6. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  7. how much temperature they can withstand

    1 answer
    1. The minimum and maximum temperature tolerance of this material has not been established.

      Helpful?

  8. Can I know the transmittance of this film at 365 nm?

    1 answer
    1. The transmittance at 550 nm is reported on a lot-specific basis. The minimum value is 78%. A review of recent lots indicates a general range of 79.2% - 81.3%. Please see the link below to review a sample or lot-specific Certificate of Analysis:

  9. How are they made?

    1 answer
    1. Indium tin oxide is coated onto a polyethylene terephthalate surface. Specific details on manufacturing are withheld due to the proprietary nature of these processes.

      Helpful?

  10. Is the unit of resistivity, Ω/sq, referring to ohms per square meter or ohms per square inch?

    1 answer
    1. The unit of resistivity, Ω/sq, refers to a dimensionless square area of resistive material. It does not specify a specific unit of measurement such as ohms per square meter or ohms per square inch.
