General description

Molybdenum(V) chloride, also called as molybdenum pentachloride is a Lewis acid with high oxidation potential. It is widely used as a catalyst in the field of organic synthesis and polymer chemistry. It is also used as a chemical vapor deposition precursor.[1] [2]

Application

Molybdenum(V) chloride can be used:
  • As a catalyst for amidation of secondary benzyl alcohols.[1]
  • As a precursor to fabricate MoS2 thin films by atomic layer deposition method.[3]
  • As a primary catalyst for coordination polymerization of butadiene.[2]
  • To fabricate superior anode materials for Na-ion and Li-ion batteries.[4]
  • As a dual-function redox mediator for Li–O2 batteries to overcome thehigh polarization and low energy density issues.[5]

Questions

  1. Hello. Could you possibly provide me with the average particle size and a brief description of the particle shape? I am looking for small, homogeneous nano-particles. An SEM image would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    1 answer
    1. Unfortunately, no additional testing to determine particle size and shape is performed.
