Application

The organic layer of the CdS/ZnS or CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) with carboxylic acid as reactive group consist of a monolayer of oleic acid/octadecylamine and a monolayer of amphiphilic polymer. The total thickness of organic layers on these QDs is approximately 4 nm. They find many applications in bioimaging and biosensing.[1][2][3]

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) targeted nanoparticle are developed by conjugating a single-chain anti-EGFR antibody (ScFvEGFR) to surface functionalized quantum dots (QDs) or magnetic iron oxide (IO) nanoparticles. The results show that ScFvEGFR can be successfully conjugated to the nanoparticles

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. Do the CdSe/ZnS core-shell type quantum dots (product no. 900226) blink when excited with red light? Or are they useful in stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy where blinking is required?

    1 answer
    1. No, this product does not blink when excited by a red light. Therefore, they may not be suitable for applications in stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy where blinking is required.

      Helpful?

  2. What is the exact size (in nm) of this QD?

    1 answer
    1. The inorganic size of these QDs is approximately 8.1 nm and the hydrodynamic size is approximately 18 nm.

      Helpful?

  3. The CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (product no. 900226) are indeed capable of single-photon emission. Some literature sources mention the use of quantum dots from Sigma-Aldrich as single-photon sources.

    1 answer
    1. It is advised that all fluorophores should exhibit single-photon emission. Additionally, our quantum dots (QDs) also demonstrate single-photon emission.

      Helpful?
