Description

General description

(±)-α-Tocopherol is a racemic mixture of α-tocopherol which is also known as vitamin E. It is a lipid-soluble antioxidant found in whole grains, nuts, and oils. It is known to scavenge reactive oxygen species by interacting with lipids during oxidative stress.
(±)-α-Tocopherol-(trimethyl-¹³C₃ phenyl) is an isotope of vitamin E wherein all the three methyl carbons attached to the phenyl ring are replaced by ¹³C₆ carbon.
