General description

These graphene nanoplatelets can enhance mechanical properties such as stiffness, strength, and surface hardness of the matrix material. They are compatible with nearly all polymers and can serve as an active ingredient in inks or coatings, as well as an excellent additive for various types of plastics. The manufacturing processes used are non-oxidizing, resulting in a pristine graphitic surface composed of sp² carbon molecules, making them particularly suitable for applications that require high electrical or thermal conductivity. The particles have an average thickness of approximately 6-8 nanometers and a typical surface area of 120 to 150 m²/g.

Application

  • Ultracapacitor electrodes.
  • Anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.
  • Conductive additive for battery electrodes.
  • Electrically conductive inks.
  • Thermally conductive films and coatings.
  • Additive for lightweight composites.
  • Films or coatings for EMI shielding.
  • Substrate for chemical and biochemical sensors.
  • Barrier material for packaging.
  • Additive for super-strong concrete.
  • Additive for metal-matrix composites.

Other Notes

Graphene nanoplatelets have naturally occurring functional groups like ethers, carboxyls, or hydroxyls that can react with atmospheric humidity to form acids or other compounds. These functional groups are present on the edges of the particles and their wt% varies with particle size.

Questions

1–5 of 5 Questions
  1. What is elastic modulus of graphene nanoplatelets?

    1 answer
    1. The elastic modulus is not tested internally. The manufacturer specifies the tensile modulus to be 1,000 MPa parallel to the surface.

      Helpful?

  2. Can this be used to make conductive paint?

    1 answer
    1. Yes, this product can be used to make either thermally conductive or electrically conductive ink or paint.

      Helpful?

  3. What is the electrical conductivity of 900413 graphene nanoplatelets?

    1 answer
    1. The electrical conductivity of this product is 10^5 S/cm (parallel to surface) and 1 S/cm (perpendicular to surface).

      Helpful?

  4. What is graphene used for ?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not tested for suitability in any specific applications. As listed in the 'DESCRIPTION' section, under Application, graphene nanoplatelets are often utilized in the following:
      Ultracapacitor electrodes
      Anode materials for lithium-ion batteries
      Conductive additive for battery electrodes
      Electrically conductive inks
      Thermally conductive films and coatings
