General description

DGA glass syringes are used to take samples of mineral oil in a transformer. Transformer mineral oil cools the transformer and provides electrical insulation. When this mineral oil is subjected to high thermal and electrical stresses, it decomposes and gases are generated.

Different gases are generated from different types of faults, and the chemical analysis of these gases (Dissolved Gas Analysis) provides diagnostic information about the condition of the transformer.

DGA syringes are custom fit (matched numbered) to create a tight fit between the barrel and plunger. The barrels are frosted.
