General description

Buprenorphine glucuronide is a major urinary metabolite of the semi-synthetic opioid, buprenorphine. This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for use in LC/MS or GC/MS applications for clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, urine drug testing, or pain prescription monitoring. Buprenorphine is used for the management of moderate chronic pain and for the treatment of opioid addiction.

Quantitative analysis of potent opiate drugs in plasma by radioimmunoassay is potentially inaccurate because of the occurrence of cross-reacting metabolites. The opioid partial agonist medication, buprenorphine (BUP), and its primary metabolite, norbuprenorphine (NBUP), are extensively glucuronidated. Sensitive analytical methods that include determination of buprenorphine-3-glucuronide (BUPG) and norbuprenorphine-3-glucuronide (NBUPG) are needed to more fully understand the metabolism and pharmacokinetics of buprenorphine.

Protocols

Using UHPLC/MS (TOF) for Detection of Drugs and Metabolites in Urine Following Optimized Enzymatic Hydrolysis Conditions

To optimize hydrolysis using β-glucuronidase, factors such as incubation time, temperature, hydrolysis pH, enzyme source, and enzyme concentration must be evaluated for each glucuronide metabolite to be analyzed.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
