General description

Citalopram is an antidepressant sold under the trade names Celexa® and Cipramil for the treatment of major depression. Citalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, a class of drugs that also includes fluoxetine, paroxetine, and sertraline. This internal standard is suitable for quantitation of citalopram levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods.

Application

  • Advancements in analytical methods for psychoactive drugs: A fast UPLC-MS/MS screening method was developed for detecting psychoactive drugs and metabolites in whole blood, incorporating Citalopram-D₆ hydrobromide as an internal standard to enhance precision in neurochemical analysis, especially in post-mortem cases. This method underscores the critical role of high-purity deuterated derivatives in biochemical research (Barone et al., 2023).
