General description

Phenylephrine, marketed as Neo-Synephrine®, is the most common over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant in the US. Over the last few years, it has been marketed as a substitute for pseudoephedrine with tighter US government regulation of pseudoephedrine from the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005.

Obesity and hypertension are comorbid in epidemic proportion, yet their biological connection is largely a mystery. The peptide chemerin is a candidate for connecting fat deposits around the blood vessel (perivascular adipose tissue) to arterial contraction. We presently tested the

Adrenoceptor stimulation is a key determinant of cardiac excitation-contraction coupling mainly through the activation of serine/threonine kinases. However, little is known about the role of protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs) activated by adrenergic signaling on cardiac excitation-contraction coupling. A cytoplasmic tyrosine
