General description

Neuronal Pentraxin 2 (NPTX2) actively contributes to synaptic function and plasticity in the brain. As a member of the pentraxin family, NPTX2 regulates synaptic transmission and clears excess neurotransmitters. Predominantly expressed in neurons, it facilitates the formation and maintenance of synapses, playing a crucial role in learning and memory. NPTX2 has been linked to conditions such as Alzheimer′s disease and schizophrenia. Altered levels of NPTX2 correlate with synaptic dysfunction and cognitive decline, suggesting its potential as a biomarker for these diseases. Additionally, NPTX2 influences neuroinflammatory processes by affecting interactions between neurons and glial cells. Understanding NPTX2′s function and its impact on synaptic integrity and neuroinflammation is essential for developing therapeutic strategies that aim to preserve cognitive function and mitigate the effects of neurodegeneration in various neurological disorders.

Features and Benefits

  • Ultrasensitive Detection: Detects NPTX2 at femtogram per milliliter levels in serum, plasma and CSF.
  • Improved Signal Fidelity: Expanded dynamic range and higher signal-to-noise deliver consistent, accurate results.
  • Familiar Sandwich Format: Uses a standard sandwich immunoassay that ELISA-trained labs can adopt easily while maintaining high sensitivity for Aβ1-42.
  • Automation-compatible Design: Engineered for seamless integration with automated liquid-handling platforms to streamline workflows and reduce manual steps. Dedicated Technical Support: Backed by experts experienced in SMC® assay technology.

Packaging

96 well assay

Analysis Note

  • Sensitivity: LLOQ 580 fg/mL* (SMCxPRO® Instrument)
  • Standard Curve Range: 290-1,000,000 fg/mL
  • Intra-assay CV: <15%
  • Inter-assay CV: <20%
  • Linearity: Serum: 93% Plasma: 104% CSF: 97%
  • Recovery: Serum: 99% Plasma: 104% CSF: 99%
*Indicative LLOQ created from average of 14 independent in house runs, where >80% met same value defined with CV & Recovery +/- 20%. Refer to CoA for lot specific performance.

Other Notes

Although NPTX2 was detectable in non-human primate (rhesus macaque and cynomolgus monkey), feline, rat, mouse, and canine samples, the assay has not been verified for these species.
