General description

GranuCult® prime DG 18 (Dichloran glycerol chloramphenicol agar Base (acc. ISO 21527 and FDA-BAM) is recommended for the enumeration of xerophilic molds in dried and semi-dried foods. Reduced water activity from approx. 0.99 to 0.95 with 18 % (w/w) glycerol, and the addition of chloramphenicol prevents the growth of bacteria. Dichloran inhibits the rapid spreading of mucoraceous fungi and restricts colony sizes of other genera, easing the colony count. The enzymatic digest of casein is a nitrogen source containing an elevated level of free amino acids. Glucose provides an energy source for the growth, while agar is the solidifying agent.

Application

GranuCult® prime DG-18 agar (base) is suitable for the enumeration of xerophilic molds in dried and semi-dried foods, such as dried fruits, meat and fish products, spices, confectionery, cereals, and nuts.

Features and Benefits

  • GranuCult® offers superior granulated culture media.
  • Safe and sustainable due to reduced risks associated with fine dust and toxic substance inhalation, resulting in a safer work environment.
  • Excellent wettability, solubility, and free-flowing properties
  • Convenient, with minimal component separation and clumping, even under warm or humid conditions.
  • High batch-to-batch reproducibility
  • Prolonged shelf life of up to five years
  • High number of test strains exceeding all regulatory demands
  • Granulation technology allows many supplements to be included, with no need to add these separately
