General description

N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is an organic solvent that finds applications in numerous industries, including petrochemicals, plastics, microelectronics, and to produce pigments, cosmetics, and drugs. It is commonly used worldwide as an organic solvent, intermediate, or surfactant in various industrial and consumer applications. The unique characteristics of NMP, including its ability to mix with water and organic solvents, and its temperature, polarity, and composition stability, make it a solvent of great interest in extractive distillation.

Application

1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone can be used as a solvent during the peptide bond formation reactions.
