General description

Method: colorimetric, acc. to Neßler, with color card and comparator block with short test tubes 0.05-0.10-0.15-0.2-0.3-0.4-0.5-0.6-0.8 mg/l NH?? 0.04-0.08-0.12-0.16-0.23-0.31-0.39-0.47-0.62 mg/l NH?-N MQuant®
With the MQuant® Ammonium test (formally MColortest®) ammonium ions can be detected in wastewater, soils and fertilizers with Neßler´s reagent as a yellow-brown compound. Ammonium nitrogen (NH4-N) occurs partly in the form of ammonium ions and partly as ammonia. A pH-dependent equilibrium exists between the two forms.

Method
Ammonium ions react with Neßler′s reagent to form a yellow-brown compound. The ammonium concentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the color of the measurement solution with the color fields of a color card. The unique brilliance of the print and their fine color graduation allow precise analyses, even at the lower end of the concentration range. Due to the long test tubes a sensitive measurement range can be covered.

This test can be used for ammonium determination in
  • Groundwater and surface water
  • Drinking water
  • Wastewater
  • Aquarium water, waters from aquaculture
  • Boiler and boiler feed water, cooling water
  • Swimming-pool water
  • Soils and fertilizers after appropriate sample pretreatment

This test is not suited for seawater.
