General description

Reacts with primary amines to biotinylate proteins under mild conditions. Since it is water-soluble, this compound can be used to biotinylate cell-surface proteins and proteins that are sensitive to organic solvents.
Water-soluble form of biotin-NHS. Water solubility is extremely convenient, eliminating the need to dissolve the reagent in an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) prior to use.

Preparation Note

Unstable in aqueous solution; reconstitute just prior to use. Following reconstitution in DMSO, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at -20°C.

Analysis Note

homogeneous single spot by TLC
