General description

Catalase, along with superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, controls the levels of oxygen-derived free radicals in mammalian cells. Together these molecules may function as a somatic oxidant defense. Prevents apoptosis in cultured rat ovarian follicles.

Packaging

Please refer to vial label for lot-specific concentration.

Physical form

In 50 mM Tris, pH 8.0.

Preparation Note

Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze (-20°C).
Prepared from blood that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

Other Notes

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will decompose 1.0 µmol H₂O₂ per min at 25°C, pH 7.0.
