General description

Native coagulation factor X from human plasma. In the coagulation cascade, Factor X is converted to Factor Xa, the enzyme that converts prothrombin to thrombin by either the extrinsic or intrinsic pathway. Sold on the basis of units where one unit equals the amount of factor X in 1 ml pooled human plasma (100 units = 0.8 mg). In the coagulation cascade, Factor X is converted to Factor Xa, the enzyme which converts prothrombin to thrombin by either the extrinsic or intrinsic pathway.

Physical form

In 100 mM NaCl, 20 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM benzamidine, pH 7.4.

Preparation Note

Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze (-70°C).
Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.
