A mixture of polyoxyethylated triglycerides, by reacting castor oil with ethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 1 : 35, that acts as a nonionic surfactant and serves as a formulation vehicle (p.o. and i.v. administration) for poorly-water soluble pharmacological agents.
Hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) ~ 12 - 14.
Application
- Proteomic responses of carotenoid and retinol administration to Mongolian gerbils.: This research examines the proteomic responses in Mongolian gerbils administered with carotenoids and retinol. Cremophor® EL is utilized as a solubilizing agent for these compounds, highlighting its role in biochemical studies involving lipid-soluble substances (Bohn et al., 2018).
