General description

Native Gc-globulin from human plasma. A single polypeptide chain present in plasma at a concentration of about 20-55 mg/100 ml. Functions in the binding and transport of vitamin D. May also play an important role in actin homeostasis; binds monomeric actin with high affinity. Binds membranes of both circulating B and T lymphocytes.

Application

Gc-Globulin, Mixed Type, Human Plasma, CAS 68476-36-8, is a single polypeptide chain that transports vitamin D. Binds to cell surface at the DBP binding site in a non-saturable manner.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 150 mM NaCl, 20 mM sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.4.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 year at -70°C.
Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.
