Description

General description

Native IgA purified from human myeloma plasma. Human immunoglobulin A₁ purified from plasma of a myeloma donor. The isotype of the light chain (kappa or lamda) will vary from batch to batch depending on the starting material.

Physical form

In 150 mM NaCl, 10 mM sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.4.

Preparation Note

Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze (-20°C).

Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be nonreactive for HBsAg and for antibodies to HCV, HBc, HIV1, and HIV2.

Analysis Note

Single arc by immunoelectrophoresis against antiserum to whole human serum & human IgA₁

Other Notes

IgA myeloma proteins are usually heterogeneous with respect to molecular weight; this preparation may contain both monomeric and multimeric forms of IgA₁. Variables associated with assay conditions will dictate the proper working dilution.
