GMBS is suitable for use:

• as a hetero-bifunctional cross-linking reagent for the immobilization of neural adhesion molecule L1 onto silicon dioxide surface[1]
• for the crosslinking of biochips with functionalized gold nanoparticles[2]
• for coating salinized capillary tube prior to neutravidin treatment in biosensor sandwich immunoassay[3]

General description

Heterobifunctional reagent useful for preparation of conjugates such as secondary antibodies and β-galactosidase for EIA procedures or for immobilizing enzymes on solid supports.

N-γ-maleimidobutyryloxysuccinimide ester (GMBS) is an aliphatic crosslinker for immunotoxins (IT).(1) It is used for the generation of conjugated Poly-γ-D-glutamic acid.

Preparation Note

Reconstitute to 10 mg/ml in tetrahydrofuran or DMSO. Add 1 ml of this stock solution dropwise, with stirring, to 10 ml of 20 mM phosphate buffer.
