Description

General description

A very potent, voltage-dependent, rapidly unbinding antagonist (calcium channel blocker) of NMDA receptors (IC₅₀ = 0.8, 0.57, 0.52, and 0.54 µM for GluN2A, B, C, and D, respectively). A popular medicine for treating moderate-to-severe Alzheimer′s disease. Frequently used in studying brain functions and disorders involving neurotransmission mediated by NMDA receptors (i.e. learning and memory, cognitive functions, neuroplasticity, Alzheimer′s disease, schizophrenia, bipolar depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, oxidative stress, and excitotoxicity).

Memantine Hydrochloride is a very potent, voltage-dependent, rapidly unbinding antagonist (calcium channel blocker) of NMDA receptors.
