General description

Native papain from Carica papaya. A cysteine protease that hydrolyzes peptides, amides and esters, especially at bonds involving basic amino acids, glycine or leucine. Inhibitors include leupeptin (Cat. No.108975) and PMSF (Cat. No. 52332 ).

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 2 months at -20°C.

1 MCU (milk clotting unit) = 9 HDU (hemoglobin digestion units) = 6 GU (gelatin units) = 30 USP units
