Application

Nickel(II) chloride can be used as a catalyst:
  • To synthesize acyclic and cyclic dithioacetals via thioacetalization of aldehydes.[1]
  • To prepare α-aminonitrile derivatives via a one-pot, three-component coupling reaction of aldehydes, amines, and trimethylsilyl cyanide.[2]
  • In the hydrodefluorination of fluoroarenes in the presence of lithium triethylborohydride.[3]
