Application

1,2,6-Hexanetriol can be used as a reactant to synthesize:
  • Unsaturated alcohols via rhenium-catalyzed deoxydehydration.
  • Branched polyesters via melt polycondensation with dicarboxylic acids in the presence of tertrabutyl titanate as a catalyst.
  • Shape memory polymer foams with enhanced degradation resistance.
  • α-Hydroxyketones via catalytic selective oxidation of 1,2-diols.
  • Primary tosylates via dibutyltin oxide-catalyzed tosylation with tosyl chloride.
