Especially purified for membrane research

Application

Triton X-100 is used:
  • as one of the most commonly used non-ionic aqueous detergents for solubilizing membrane proteins during isolation of membrane-protein complexes
  • for native gel electrophoresis
  • as a blocking agent in immunocytochemistry
  • for permeabilization of slides prior to immunostaining and immunofluorescence
  • for permeabilization of slides used for TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling) technique

Biochem/physiol Actions

Widely used non-ionic surfactant for recovery of membrane components under mild non-denaturing conditions.

Purity: <2 ppm peroxide content (as H2O2),<200 μM carbonyls,<100 μS conductivity
Note: Purified to reduce levels of unwanted peroxides, carbonyls, metals, and salts. To preserve the low peroxide content of the preparation, always remove aliquots of detergent from the vial with a syringe.
