Application

Calcium chloride dihydrate has been used for synthesis of chemical hydrogels based on telechelic Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA). It has also been used for investigating the morphology of polystyrene-based emulsion-templated (PolyHIPE) materials.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Calcium chloride act as precipitants during protein crystallization process. It also enhances the competence of Escherichia coli cells as well as strengthened β-lactoglobulin gels by forming crossbridges.

In this paper, we present some new case examples where the chemical versatility of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) can be used for potential biomedical applications. PVA, the polymeric material used for designing new nanostructured devices, is water soluble, biocompatible and

Protein crystallization is a major bottleneck in protein X-ray crystallography, the workhorse of most structural proteomics projects. Because the principles that govern protein crystallization are too poorly understood to allow them to be used in a strongly predictive sense, the
