General description

Dichloran Glycerol Medium Base with Chloramphenicol is recommended for selective isolation of xerophilic moulds from food samples. It is a medium for enumeration of xerophilic fungi from low-moisture foods.[1]

Application

Dichloran Glycerol Agar has been used for culturing Aspergillus flavus AF57 on rice grains[2] and fungal populations from conidial suspension treated rice grains.[3]

Preparation Note

Suspend 15.8 grams in 500 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Add 110 grams of glycerol (Analytical Reagent Grade). Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes.

Other Notes

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
