General description

Aniline Blue is the traditional name applied to anionic dyes produced by successive phenylation and sulfonation of basic fuchsine. It is a mixture of methyl blue (Cl 42780, Acid blue 93) and water blue (Cl 42755, Acid blue 22).

Application

Aniline blue (nominally as methyl blue or water blue) is a component of commonly used polychrome stains. Heidenhain′s AZAN stain and the Mallory′s polychrome stain both entail staining steps using aniline blue-orange G mixtures. Aniline blue is used in Gomori′s one-step trichrome stain and Mallory′s connective tissue stain for tissue including kidney and intestine.
Certified for use in Mallory′s connective tissue stain and Gomori′s one-step trichrome.

Questions

  1. Can item 415049, Aniline Blue diammonium salt, be used to stain glucan G6513?

    1 answer
    1. Aniline Blue is commonly used as a collagen stain, but there is no specific mention of its use to stain glucans.Aniline Blue can be specifically used to detect (1,3)-β-glucans. For the specific pH 8 solution formulation for staining with Aniline Blue, it is suggested to use a dilute solution of ammonium hydroxide or a dilute solution of sodium hydroxide. Further searching is recommended to provide an actual staining procedure.
