Application

Bilirubin standard reference material (SRM) is intended for use in the calibration and standardization of measurement procedures for the determination of bilirubin in clinical samples, it is also used for assigning bilirubin quantity values to in-house control materials.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Well over 99% of total bilirubin is transported as a conjugate with albumin. Abnormally high levels of bilirubin can cause severe neurological damage, but mildly elevated levels are linked to protection from oxidative stress.

Features and Benefits

  • SRM 916B is available with a certificate documenting NIST-certified mass fraction values the unconjugated Bilirubin.
  • Certified value is determined using a quantitative 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (q1 H-NMR).
  • Certified values are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) unit of mass, expressed as mass fraction percent.
  • The NIST certificate is provided with safety, storage and use instructions.

General description

Each unit of SRM 916B consists of 100 mg of bilirubin.
