This material is insoluble in pure water, but it is slightly soluble in aqueous solutions with an alkaline pH. It can be solubilized completely in hot sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, saturated potassium bicarbonate, or saturated potassium bisulfate. In addition, titanium dioxide disperses very well in oils. This compound is a poor electrical conductor unless doped with other materials such as organic dyes or graphene nanoplatelets. The conductivity is the subject of ongoing materials science research. The peer-reviewed literature details many different dopants used to enhance the conductivity of titanium dioxide.
