Type of PT Scheme:
Solids/Soils Hazardous Waste

Matrix: Soil

Analyte/s: Values of analytes vary lot to lot.

All information regarding the use of Metals in Soil - PT proficiency testing standard can be found in the reporting packet which will be available to download at PT Portal.

Application

Metals in Soil - PT is a soils/hazardous waste (soil/HW metals) proficiency testing material, suitable for testing metals in soil samples.

Our soil PT samples behave as real samples; and, unless there is no alternative, are not simply spikes added to a blank soil. They are designed to meet the requirements of national, regional and state-specific accreditation bodies (TNI, USEPA, UKAS) for quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Preparation Note

Description

  • This PT soil  sample contains 26 TNI metals plus several other metals listed on the report form.
  • A total sample size of 30 g is provided.
  • The PT sample has been heat sterilized.
  • The evaluation of results will be based on study statistics for equivalent methods.
  • This sample should be digested using USEPA method 3050, 3051 or equivalent methods.
  • After the sample is opened it should be used within 6 months or within the expiration date whichever is sooner.

Sample Preparation
  • Perform the sample digestion on an appropriate amount of sample according to the selected digestion procedure. The recommended minimum sampling size is 0.5 g.
  • Determination of the percent moisture content of the material is required.
  • Report all results on a dry weight basis.
  • It is recommended that approximately 1 g of the soil be digested.
  • Determine the metals present. It is not necessary to report all metals; only report the metals of interest.
  • You may report as many methods as required by reporting online.
