General description

Bridged Nucleic Acids (BNAs) in Soil - PT proficiency testing material is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. This product is produced according to TNI requirements. However, please note, this sample may include non-TNI analytes as well. The PT portfolio allows our test components to offer significant performance data to monitor and prove competency to customers, accreditation bodies or both.

Supelco® is a global proficiency testing (PT) provider that manufactures best-in-class environmental and pharmaceutical PT products. We are the world leader in the manufacturing of real-world soil and sediment PT products.

Type of PT Scheme: Solids/Soils Hazardous Waste

Matrix: Soil

Analyte/s: Values of analytes vary lot to lot.

All information regarding the use of BNAs in Soil - PT can be found in the reporting packet which will be available to download at PT Portal.

Application

BNAs in Soil - PT is a soil/hazardous waste (soil/HW BNAs) proficiency testing material, suitable for testing the BNAs in soil samples.

Our soil PT samples behave as real samples; and, unless there is no alternative, are not simply spikes added to a blank soil. They are designed to meet the requirements of national, regional and state-specific accreditation bodies (TNI, USEPA, UKAS) for quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Features and Benefits

We have a vast portfolio of environmental PT schemes with "fit-for-purpose" samples to help you meet the needs of the laboratory.

Our proficiency testing (PT) program is a benchmark to:

  • provide staff with an insight into their laboratory′s performance, to verify the accuracy and reliability of their testing process
  • provide a comparison of performance with that of other laboratories, nationally and internationally
  • test and educate staff, provide a better understanding of the impact of incorrect results and identify areas where there may be problems
  • provide an independent evaluation of laboratory performance
  • demonstrate to clients, colleagues and accreditation bodies that there is a commitment to quality

Preparation Note

Description

  • This sample consists of 10 g of soil containing base/neutrals and acids in soil.
  • Four samples have been provided for your convenience (multiple methods, multiple analysts, etc.).
  • The soil has been chemically stabilized with 1 mL of acetone to minimize degradation of the sample.
  • The evaluation of the results will be based on study statistics as required by TNI.
  • The standard may not contain all the compounds listed on the Report Form in accordance with TNI standards.
  • For analytes not detected, report as zero “0” or a “<” and your detection limit or “<” PTRL.

Sample Preparation

  • Extract the complete contents of a single vial. Transfer entire contents of one vial to extraction vessel. Rinse vial and cap with extraction solvent.
  • Note: Sample extracts and calibration solutions should be in the same solvent.
  • Analyze the Extract using the appropriate Semi-Volatile Organics method for which you are seeking accreditation.
  • Determine the concentration of the analytes listed and report your results on the organic analysis data sheet provided.
  • The method used must be reported.
  • Report all results on a wet weight basis, do not correct for moisture.
  • Assume a 10 g sample size for all calculations.

Storage and Stability

Please refer to sample label for expiration date, specific storage temperature, and specific storage conditions.
