General description

Laser excited Raman spectral study reveals that 1?0 torsional transitions of the NH₄⁺ ion in phase III of NH₄Br were observed at 331cm^-1.[1] Neutron diffraction studies have been conducted to evaluate the P-T phase diagram of NH₄Br and its deuterated form (ND₃Br).[2]

Application

Ammonium bromide may be used in the preparation of organic ammonium tribromides.[3] It may also be used as a reagent during the transformation of benzyl derivatives of halides, amines, alcohols, and aldehydes into respective nitriles via oxidation.[4]
