Application

Tetramethylsilane can be used as:
  • A precursor to synthesize α-SiC by chemical vapor deposition[1].
  • A reactant to synthesize 1,3,5,7-tetramethyladamantane from adamantane in the presence of aluminum chloride and dichloromethane[2].
  • A solvent for the hydroaminomethylation of 1-octene with morpholine[3].
  • A methylating reagent for the conversion of germanium tetrachloride to tetramethylgermanium, trimethylgermanium chloride, dimethylgermanium dichloride or methylgermanium trichloride[4].
