General description

2,3-Diaminonaphthalene, also known as 2,3 DAN, is an aromatic diamino fluorescent compound designed for carrying out DAN assays.[1] Reacting with nitrite, 2,3 DAN forms the fluorescent product, 3-naphthotriazole (NAT), determined fluorometrically.

Application

2,3-Diaminonaphthalene or DAN is suitable for fluorescence-spectroscopic determination of nitrite/ nitrate in milk and soy based food products.[2]

DAN is used in the fluorometric determination of selenium in biological materials.[3]

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

Analysis Note

In addition to the emission maximum at 406 nm, there are lower maxima at 426, 386 and 450 nm
