Application

N-Acetyl-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp p-nitroanilide has been used as a chromogenic substrates for determining caspase-3 and caspase-8 activities in liver tissue homogenates[1] and caspase 3 activity in aortic vascular smooth muscle cells[2] and neuroblastoma cell lines.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Colorimetric substrate for caspase 3, a protease that is rapidly activated when cells are exposed to apoptotic conditions and that cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase.
