General description

Immunoglobulin is a glycoprotein, with two heavy chain and two light chain connected by disulfide bond. IgG is a major class of immunoglobulin. It has five subclasses of IgG- IgG1, IgG3, IgG2a and IgG2b. Affinity isolated antibody is obtained from rabbit anti-pig IgG antiserum by immunospecific purification which removes essentially all rabbit serum proteins, including immunoglobulins, which do not specifically bind to pig IgG. Anti-Pig IgG is then conjugated to peroxidase by protein cross linking with 0.2% glutaraldehyde.

Immunogen

purified pig IgG

Application

Anti-Pig IgG (whole molecule)?Peroxidase antibody produced in rabbit has been used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunoblotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III. It mainly helps in immune defense. Pig IgGs against target proteins are often used as primary antibodies in various research applications. Thus, secondary anti-pig IgGs conjugated to a detectable substrate are useful tools for the analysis of target proteins. Rabbit anti-pig IgG (whole molecule)-peroxidase antibody binds to pig IgG.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 0.05% MIT.

Preparation Note

Prepared by the two-step glutaraldehyde method described by Avrameas, S., et al., Scand. J. Immunol., 8, Suppl. 7, 7 (1978).

Questions

  1. Will Anit-Pig IgG have the same ability to bind to antibodies from all pig breeds? Including minipigs, or potbellied pigs?

    1 answer
    1. Unfortunately, the ability of this product to bind to all pig breeds has not been tested.
