Cell Line Origin

Human Caucasian neuroblastoma

Cell Line Description

Established from a bone marrow metastasis from a 4-year-old caucasian female suffering with neuroblastoma. The cells have been used as a target cell in cell-mediated cytoxicity tests.

Application

Human SK.N.SH cell line has been used in dark toxicity testing of a chloro-indium-phthalocyanine photosensitizer (In-Pc). It has also been used to study the potential mechanisms and domain requirements of the hHSJ1a (DnaJ heat shock protein family member B2) mediated reduction in superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) aggregation.

Culture Medium

EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
