Cell Line Origin

Human primary osteogenic sarcoma

Cell Line Description

Reported to have been derived from an 11 year old female Caucasian. The patient was treated with RTG, methotrexate, adriamycin, vincristine, cytoxan, and aramycin-C. HLA cell line phenotype: A2,3;Bw16,w47.

Application

SAOS-2 cell line has been used to study the importance of cyclin D1 for the activity of lithocholic acid hydroxyamide (LCAHA). It has also been used to study the effect of chromium-enriched diamond-like carbon (DLC) layers on cell adhesion and proliferation.
