General description

GRIPAP1 has a molar mass of 97kDa and is localized to endosomes.

Immunogen

GRIP1-associated protein 1 recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Application

Anti-GRIPAP1 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.

Biochem/physiol Actions

GRIPAP1 (GRIP1 associated protein 1) gene encodes a protein that functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor for the Ras family of small G proteins (RasGEF). It associates with glutamate receptor interacting protein 1 (GRIP1) in a complex and regulates AMPA receptor function. It is involved in the maintenance of spine morphology, and synaptic plasticity. It acts as a scaffold protein and activates MEKK-1 of JNK signaling in neurons.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

The endosomal pathway in neuronal dendrites is essential for membrane receptor trafficking and proper synaptic function and plasticity. However, the molecular mechanisms that organize specific endocytic trafficking routes are poorly understood. Here, we identify GRIP-associated protein-1 (GRASP-1) as a neuron-specific

GRASP-1 is a neuronally enriched protein that interacts with the AMPA-type glutamate receptor/GRIP complex. GRASP-1 can be cleaved by Caspase-3 in both normal and ischemic brains although the functional significance of this cleavage remains elusive. We investigated signal transduction pathways

Caspases are proteases involved in various physiological and pathological processes in the nervous system, including development and pathogenesis. GRASP-1 is a recently identified neuronal substrate of caspase-3-subfamily caspases. It is a Ras-guanine nucleotide exchange factor (RasGEF) that interacts with the
